Doing It Passionately

    Posted on November 4, 2010

I've chatted about this before, I think, but when I was training guides in the desert I had one thing that I tried to bang into everyone's head.  Let every one of your guests have a meaningful experience

Today is our kids year end show, so I don't have that much time to sit and write, so I thought I'd throw one quick one off the top of my head.  I'll get back to my scheduled post by Monday.  Tomorrow I'm giving blood - the vampires have been calling - Namibia needs my fancy O+ blood.  I try not to write on Fridays anyway, I spend the day organizing and finishing the stuff I didn't do.

Well, there's nothing I enjoy catting about more than passion.  Passion matters.

How To Make Blog Headers That Work

    Posted on November 3, 2010

First impressions count.  On your blog or website much of that impression comes from the header section.  Make sure you're catching some of the people landing on your page.

We'll chat about aesthetics, usability, design and what features to include or leave out of your header.  Of course, a great deal of this content relates to having some control over your website's guts (CSS, HTML, and so on).

Sandcurves Statement On Blog Content Best Practices

    Posted on October 29, 2010

This post simply takes a broad swipe at blog content creation best practices.  There's a lot of stuff here, and to a certain extent it is a bit thrown together.  You might only read a little bit of it, that's fine.

I think there's stuff in here that is useful.  That's because I learned everything from hundreds of other blogs that I have read or glanced over.  I'm simply the student, writing up my homework - a little summary of what the process of producing good blog content might be like.

As such, your input would be so useful.  This is one blog post I intend to keep editing from time to time as I learn.  So read a bit of it, and tell me what I am getting wrong or what you found useful.

Becoming A Good Blog Post Writer

There's so much emphasis on little tips and tricks to make your blog zoom up the success ladder, but I honestly feel that this advice is often left out.  Master the art of writing

Make a project of improving your own writing.  That's what I have been doing for the last couple of weeks, and plan to continue working on… for a while!

How would you do that?

How Browsers Are Your Podium

    Posted on October 25, 2010

Speeches stretch from very embarrassingly terrible to jaw droopingly awesome.  Blogging may have some similarities to building and delivering a public speech.

The analogy of blogging as public speaking is a useful way of taking a new, fresh look at how you write your blog posts.  It might be just the thing you need to step it up a notch.

There are differences and similarities, of course.  For one, I sure hope you don't get as nervous blogging as one does before a speech.
